As a ClimateSmart certified business since 2016, we have reduced our overall tCO2 emissions by 84% from our baseline measurement by reducing work related travel, commuting, and significantly cutting the energy consumption of our workplace. Webnames remains committed to measuring and further reducing our CO2 emissions annually.
This reduction is equivalent to:
84%

Suppliers and Vendors
Along with reducing our GHG emissions, Webnames has consciously cultivated relationships with suppliers and vendors that align with our environmental values and goals for a more sustainable supply chain wherever possible – suppliers whose solutions and services are produced, managed and monetized responsibly where both people and the environment are concerned.
A key part of this is our use of data centres powered by renewable energy and cooled by water systems instead of high energy consuming air conditioning further reduces climate impacts, allowing us to offer more sustainable services to our clients. We are furthermore committed to sourcing business supplies, branded promotional merchandise and other goods or services from vendors that have attained sustainability certifications and/or have transparent policies around ethical and/or local sourcing, renewables, waste reduction and use of non-hazardous materials.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
When CEO and Co-Founder Cybele Negris started Webnames nearly 25-years ago technology companies were not pursuing inclusivity, diversity, and equity. As co-founder and COO, she pursued a vision for the company, building an inclusive workplace at Webnames that prioritized work-life flexibility, different perspectives, as well as the hiring of women and underrepresented minorities.
Those early intrinsic values over time became strategic commitments to foster inclusion and social responsibility Webnames’ culture, cultivating a work environment that is inclusive, safe and uplifting, with equal opportunities for advancement for all of Webnames’ team members.
Webnames Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Statement

Community
Impact
All of Webnames, leadership and team-wide, care about our communities – both local and online. Based out of Vancouver, BC, since our spin-off from the original .CA registry at the University of British Columbia in 2000, we recognize our privilege to live, work and play on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.
Social responsibility and giving back to community have always been a part of Webnames’s core values and team culture. We believe not only in contributing to our communities to make them better, healthier and more equitable, but also in nurturing and empowering Canadians to achieve their business goals and dreams.
Some of the causes and initiatives we have supported and/or continue to support through sponsorships, volunteerism, and teamwork include:
Organizations and Causes We Support
Webnames is particularly grateful to be a longtime supporter of Science World’s Girls and STEAM initiative which encourages young girls and women to pursue their scientific interests and explore careers in STEAM by expanding their knowledge of and access to STEAM opportunities, and the Canadian Cancer Society for whom we have fundraised more than 80k to support the development of an early cancer detection centre in our community.
